Philanthropy With Intention

Today's philanthropic landscape is evolving rapidly. New forms of wealth creation and distribution, technological innovation, and changing expectations around giving are creating unprecedented opportunities for impact—but also increasing complexity for donors and their advisors.

JMB Strategies helps individuals, families, and professional advisors navigate this changing landscape with confidence. We combine deep philanthropic expertise, trusted relationships, and a forward-looking perspective on emerging trends in wealth, technology, and social impact to help clients develop giving strategies that are both meaningful and effective.

We believe philanthropy should be an intentional, informed, and impactful component of a broader wealth management strategy and are dedicated to building relationships that bring your goals to life.

A Boutique Model, Backed by Experts

JMB Strategies is led by founder Jackie Burton and supported by a trusted network of philanthropic professionals, subject-matter experts, and specialized partners. Depending on a client's goals, engagements may draw on expertise in philanthropy, grantmaking, nonprofit strategy, legal and operational considerations, impact measurement, and movement-building.

This flexible model allows clients to benefit from highly personalized advising while also accessing a broader network of experience and perspectives when needed.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Burton is the Founder and Principal of JMB Strategies and a philanthropic advisor with more than a decade of experience across philanthropy and social impact. Her career includes eight years at the Ford Foundation, where she managed $71 million in philanthropic capital across international and U.S.-based portfolios spanning place-based philanthropy, economic justice, and crisis response.

Jackie pairs sophisticated grantmaking expertise and analytical rigor with a deeply relational approach to philanthropy. She takes the time to understand each client’s values, experiences, hopes, and ambitions, while drawing on extensive field knowledge and trusted relationships with organizations, leaders, and communities.

Today, she brings that experience directly to individuals and families, helping them translate significant resources and ambitious goals into philanthropy that is both deeply personal and strategically rigorous.

She holds an M.A. in Urban Planning from NYU and is a certified philanthropic advisor through Daylight Advisors. Jackie lives in Boulder, Colorado, and New York City and serves on the boards of the Colorado Chapter of Blood Cancer United and Sembrando Sentido in Puerto Rico.
